Upon the success of receiving the DYCP research grant from the Arts Council in late 2025:
My research looks at Electronic synthesis and how I can incorporate it in my work and performance; how to integrate non-European rhythmic systems into electronic synthesis, challenging the dominance of 4/4 metric frameworks, of which are rooted in capitalistic and colonial frameworks. This work will sit at the intersections of, and draw upon Baul music & philosophy, Ecology (West Bengal/Bangladesh), Flamenco music, Afro-diasporic traditions (Cuba, Brasil) Islamic cosmology, Vedantic cosmology, Raga and Tala systems and corresponding musical motifs.
From Nov 2025 – March 2026 the research has taken me to Weimar and Weimar University in Germany to explore Electronic Synthesis and Shanti Niketan in West Bengal. I will further my practice and exploration and start sharing my findings in June 2026.
