‘Shortwave listening – poems & prophecies’. – New electronica EP from Producer, Composer, Percussionist & Curator RENU (Renu Hossain) presents her brand new music EP – ‘Shortwave Listening – poems & prophecies’ Featuring poet, writer & activist xamques from Namibia. Renu Hossain has played percussion for the likes of Grace Jones and has been lionised by BBC Radio 6, The Quietus, Art Forum Magazine, Cannes (Best sound design) and Electronic Sound Magazine.

Walking up San Miguel Alto, the hot breeze gently stroking my arms, my phone pinged profusely with messages. After meeting xamques in Hamburg Kunsthaus in Autumn 2022, waiting months for some magic from her; the cascade of prophecies had finally arrived. I placed her words gently into the music.

The story is: on Earth is the biggest meteorite, HOBA. It landed on the planet 80,000 years ago. From this meteorite, it is evident that those such as xamques, who live in the same land that this remnant of space rests, have parts of it in their DNA.

The EP is an attempt at communicating with celestial spaces. To our past, our shared atoms and molecules and a small wink towards epochal Orchestral electronic composers.
